ArtLab: Collaborative Artmaking

An opportunity for users to learn and watch the process of digital art making and engage in open discussions with artists from around the world. An opportunity for users to learn and observe how to process digital art within software programs such as photoshop.

[Editor's note: Steve Danzig orchestrated a collaborative artmaking project in mid-2005. The full project -- with detailed artist notes and stages of image development -- is available as a PDF at ArtLab. The artists were given several starting images. The first artist created a new image of his interest from this starting set and turned it over to the next artist in a tag team process until the final artist had a go at a final transformation. The details are truly instructive and a delight to watch. This ArtLab contributes in an important way to understanding the minutiae and adventure of digitl artmaking.]

Here are the artists participating in this project.

1. John Labadie (30 May [2005] to 06 June)
2. Wayne Cosshall (06 June to 13 June)
3. Tom Chambers (13 June to 20 June)
4. Margie Labadie (20 June to 27 June)
